A good fit if

Sound familiar?

“Your site is four or five years old, slow on mobile, and every change needs a developer.”

“An agency quoted six months and a six-figure budget for what is, underneath, a content site.”

“You’re moving off a page builder, Webflow, Squarespace or a custom CMS and can’t afford to lose SEO.”

“Marketing wants to edit pages themselves and the current theme makes that impossible.”

What I do

The work

Content and URL audit

Every page, redirect and ranking keyword mapped before anything is built. Old URLs redirect one to one. Nothing is lost on launch day.

Block theme build

A WordPress block theme your team can edit: real patterns, global styles, no page-builder lock-in and no shortcode soup. Accessible by default (WCAG 2.2 AA).

Performance

Core Web Vitals in the green on real devices, not just Lighthouse on a laptop. Image pipeline, caching, fonts and third-party scripts handled.

Migration and launch

Staging, content migration, DNS and a launch checklist. Monitored for the first weeks so ranking changes are caught early.

Documentation and handover

A short guide for editors, a technical README for whoever comes after me. You own the repo and the hosting account.

How it works

From first call to shipped work

Audit, one week

Crawl, analytics review, content inventory, redirect map and a written plan with a fixed price.

Build, three to six weeks

Design system, templates, patterns and migration, with a weekly review on staging.

Launch and watch

Redirects verified, Search Console monitored, performance and uptime alerts in place for 30 days.

Most redesigns take four to eight weeks from the first call to launch. Fixed price for defined work, hourly for ongoing engineering. How I work with US teams.

Proof

“Sam is an excellent programmer who I would have no hesitation recommending and look forward to working with again. He really thinks things through carefully and delivers great work.”

Questions

Questions I get on the first call

Will the redesign hurt our SEO?

Not if it’s done properly. Every existing URL is mapped and redirected, titles and structured data are preserved or improved, and I monitor Search Console for the weeks after launch. Most sites I rebuild gain traffic because they get faster and easier to crawl.

Do you do the design too?

I work with your designer or bring one I trust. If you have a brand and a few reference sites, I can also design directly in the browser, which keeps costs down for content-led sites.

Can we edit pages ourselves afterwards?

Yes. That is the point of building on the block editor with proper patterns. Editors get real controls, within guardrails that keep the design consistent.

What does it cost?

Fixed price, agreed after the audit. A content site rebuild typically lands in the low five figures in USD; the audit itself is a small fixed fee that is credited to the project.
